Funny thing, when I was cutting up my apples last Sunday, my sister was doing the same thing in Victoria, British Columbia. Is it the genetics, the customs, or just the season for apples?
Here is my Thanksgiving Apple Crumble Recipe:
Filling
6 apples, I like to use a mix of different varieties
6 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
6 tablespoons of butter
Crumble Topping
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
Peel apples and place them into a greased baking dish. I prefer a glass 8x8 dish. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Dot with two teaspoons of butter.
Blend remaining four teaspoons of butter into brown sugar. Stir and add flour and oats. Spoon mixture over apples. Cover with tinfoil.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes.
Uncover and bake until topping is golden brown and apples are soft and mixture is gently bubbling.
Serve with vanilla ice cream. Delicious hot or cold, and makes a yummy breakfast treat the day after!

The apple crumble sounds fabulous. I am enjoying your posts regarding Thanksgiving. I was wondering if you have any pumpkin pie recipes and whether you could share the tradition around that too? I have been debating with my husband whether it is a dessert or part of the main meal. We have so much to be thankful for that we have decided to have our own Thanksgiving celebrations this year (we live in England).

PS... I love, love, love Victoria, BC. I'm thinking better then mooching apples from my neighbor is going to Safeway... in Victoria. What's a little 4 hour drive/1+ hour ferry ride to grocery shop in my favorite city!
Sounds very yummy, even in So Calif there are some local orchards in the local mountains and we've been planning on a day trip, so this will make my list of "must makes".
I made it April... and oh it was so yummy. A huge hit, my family loved it too. And just as good cold the next day. Thank you for the recipe!
